Ready for January to end and February to come

I am so ready for January to be over. The kids have not had the best week between Morgan, her knee and her lingering cold symptons. I took Logan to the doctor today and he has another ear infection. That makes 4 since November. We saw a different doctor today and she will refer us to a pediatric ENT next week to see about tubes. I am optimistic about this as I think it will get his ears clear and get him off antibiotics. To top it all off, I found water under my kitchen sink this evening... supposed to stay in the sink, not under it. We have been having pressure issues with the faucet so who knows what it is.

The kids and I met some friends at Chuck E Cheese yesterday. It is a rare thing for us to go there. This was Logan's first time and he had fun riding some of the riding "games". Morgan just had fun in general. The pictures below are pretty self explanatory. I will say that I love Logan's expression in the first picture. Oh yeah, the Jeep is gone, gone, gone. Wahoo! Troy brought home a Dodge Avenger this evening. Will get some pictures soon.

A professional hair cut & finally a tooth

So I took Boogers, aka Morgan (more on that in a bit), to get her first professional hair cut. I asked if she wanted to go and she told me to call the man with his scissors. Took that to mean yes. I found a children's salon called Lil Dudes and Divas to take her to. She did really well. She got to sit in a big jeep and pick a movie to watch while she got her hair cut. The actual hair cut is not that different from what I have done in the past, but it was a good experience. With the way her hair grows, she will not need to go back in a while.

I referred to Morgan as Boogers because she has had a horrible runny nose for a good part of the last week and has taken to yelling out "Boogers" when her nose needs to be wiped. She knows how to wipe it, just has taken to working Mommy and Daddy. It is getting a little better, but she has a cough hanging around so might need to go to the doctor's next week. She also has a big "boo boo" on her knee. Troy took the kids for a walk on Sunday and she fell twice. Really skinned up her knee badly. Hopefully it will heal soon because the little diva is being really needy with this injury.

Logan has finally gotten a tooth! I thought the day would never come. Well, not really, but it seemed to take forever. He did really well with the teething process and now I am not sure if his cold is a cold or something from teething. I think he might get one on top next. If I am able to get a picture, I will post it.

In the meanwhile, here are a few pictures of Logan getting in to the one cabinet that we have not babyproofed in the kitchen so they have some thing to get in to. He has discovered it and loves to clear it out while I am cooking right next to him. Oh the timing. :)

Lots of doctors and fun at the fair

Another week has whirled by. Seems like a lot of it was spent at the doctor's as three of us had appointments this past week. Morgan had her 6 month dentist visit and did wonderful. After crying and screaming the first two times she went, she was perfect this time. Not a tear was shed and she actually was quite the chatterbox, talking about everything with the hygenist and dentist. I had an ultrasound on my abdomen as I have been a little sore, but they found nothing. Probably just pulled a muscle...not surprising with two kids in the house.

On Friday, I quickly rearranged our schedule so I could get Logan to the doctor. It was Troy's last day at his previous job and we found out that morning that our insurance would expire that day. I had Logan's 9 month/ear check scheduled for this week and they were able to fit us in due to the insurance problem. Logan still has fluid in his ear. Hopefully it will clear up soon. He came in at 20 lbs 11 oz and 29 1/2 inches. Almost the same height Morgan was at 9 months.

On Saturday, we went to the county fair. Morgan surprised us again by wanting to go on a pony ride. Kind of funny as we had attending a birthday party in December where there were pony rides and she did not want to ride one. Oh the fickleness of a 3 year old. She also rode on a truck and went on a bouncy bungee thing. I am not sure what it is called. They put a harness on her with stretchy ropes attached that she held on to. Then they hoisted her up some and she could bounce. Took her a few minutes to get the hang of it, but then she enjoyed it. I, also, had a picture of her that I had entered in the fair. Everyone gets a ribbon and mine happened to be a second place one. Not bad. Here are some pictures from the fair. (Logan was there....just not in the pictures).

The Beach

Took advantage of the great weather and headed to the beach with the kids this afternoon. It was Logan's first time. He was not real sure what to make of it all at first and then decided that eating the sand was what he should do. Didn't really like the mouthful he took, but kind of liked the little grains that hung out on his hands. Morgan, on the other hand, knew what to do and had lots of fun playing in the sand. She made sand angels and helped bury her brother before she was buried herself. She can't wait to go back with Nick in a few weeks and play some more. Hopefully we will have nice weather when they come down in February. Our roller coaster weather will be in the 50's next weekend!

We came home and had a great dinner of snow crab legs. Morgan's first time experiencing that. She liked the crab, but did not want to have to get it out, which was fine. She wanted small pieces and would take one, poke at it and say "Look at what I cracked". Very cute. Logan just plowed thru the potatoes and broccoli. If he keeps eating like he does, we are in big trouble when he hits his teen years!!

Logan's ears yet again

No new pictures this week, but it would not be a week in our house without a visit to the doctor. Logan went back in for his follow up to the latest ear infection. One is clear while the other is not. The doctor thinks it might be that there were two bacterias this last time and one is drug resistant. He does not think it is a new infection and does not think that Logan needs tubes. He is taking Ceclor for 10 days. There was an option of a 3 day shot series, but it is supposed to be very painful and expensive. The antibiotic he is taking does not taste well so I am giving him chocolate pudding afterwards which he does not seem to like much. I wonder if he will ever like it now??!!

The other thing I asked the doctor about was Logan waking up at night. He was sleeping fine until his ear drum erupted and it has just gotten worse and worse. He was up 4 times the other night. The doctor told me to let him cry...do our bedtime stuff and put him in the crib awake and let him cry, even if it takes an hour. Bedtime is not so bad. It is the middle of the night wakens. Anyway, I tried it for bedtime tonight and he cried for 10 minutes. I went in because I could not stand it. Got him calmed down and went back out. Took about 30 more minutes and he finally went to sleep. Morgan, on the other hand, is still up almost 2 hours after I put her down! I know with Logan we dug the hole when he had colic and we did what we had to then. I also know that he has to learn to get him to sleep and it is for his own good...just hard on the mommy!

How we spent the holiday

We loaded up the kids in the car and took off to Maryland via Atlanta. While we all survived the trip, it will be awhile before we do anything like that again. The kids did pretty good in the car and the hotels. We visited Troy's family and mine during our brief stop in Atlanta. The weather was nice when we got there, but overnight, got down right cold! It was cold most of our time in Maryland as well until the day we left when it was almost 70. Crazy weather!

Logan made the trip home sick and has ear infections yet again. Did not make for a fun night in the hotel. He is being treated with antibiotics and also with a nebulizer for some wheezing he has had. Morgan occasionally asks to go back to Nick's house even though it is a long, long, far drive according to her. She starts back up to school next week and that will be nice. Troy is probably going to take a job at MacDill AFB in Tampa so for the first time in over 3 years will have a regular job where he goes in the morning and comes back in the evening. That pretty much catches you up on our past few weeks. Here are some pictures from our trip to Maryland.

Although we have been to Pam's before and Morgan has seen Gingerbread, she really fell for her this time. She wanted to bring her home and get Auntie Pam a new Gingerbread. Logan just loved all the dogs he met on the trip.
The day after we got there, we all bundled up and headed to downtown DC and the Mall. It was really cold out! We went to the Native American Museum, Conservatory and the Air & Space Museum.

Christmas morning and someone was full of smiles for his first Christmas.

Morgan got a dollhouse from Santa and yes, we fit it in the car with all our other stuff for the trip home.

She also got a camera.

The day before we left, Pam, Mom and I took the kids to the National Zoo. Nick loves to hold Logan and Logan loves for Nick to hold him.

We saw the pandas and some cheetahs.
