Bad mommy moments and a haircut for Morgan

First the bad mommy moments. On Wednesday evening, I could hear Morgan playing in Logan's room while I was working on getting him settled in the family room. I heard her with a few toys, then a few more and finally a thud and her crying. I went in to the room and felt my heart drop...she was on the floor under the bookcase! I freaked out. I managed to put Logan down and then got Morgan out from under it. She was not hurt other than a lump on the back of her head. Luckily she was face down so it hit her on the back of her head and not on her face. The bookcases and dresser will be attached to the wall so we do not have a repeat performance.

The next morning at 5, I realized that Logan had not gotten up for a feeding when he usually does between 1 and 3 or so. I had looked at my clock at 3 and noticed it, but had not looked at the monitor. When I did look at the monitor at 5, the red light was going up and down. Apparently I had turned it on, but had not turned the volume up enough to hear it so the poor little guy had probably been up for awhile. He gulped down a bottle and stayed up for an hour...probably to say "what's up with that, mom". I definitely check the volume on the monitor now when I turn it on!

Okay, so now to Morgan's haircut. I got my hair trimmed today and mentioned to my hairdresser about how Morgan has not had a haircut yet, probably will not need one for awhile, etc. She said that if I trimmed it, then it would probably thicken up some. I had thought about trimming it for awhile, but could not bring myself to have it done until tonight. I gave Morgan her first haircut after her bath tonight. Not an easy task as she did not want to keep her head still or stay looking forward despite the princess bandaid I gave her to keep her occupied. I think I did a pretty good job. Nothing to drastic. Here are a few pictures of her after the fact. The last picture was taken a few hours before. She was running around the house in a beach hat and pool ring.

Lions, bears and fountains...oh my!

We went on a few family outings last weekend. On Friday, we all headed to the Fountains in Sarasota near Marina Jack's. Troy was able to go with us on this MOM's Club outing. Morgan and I went to the Fountains last year and she had a lot of fun. She had fun again this time...luckily the lovebugs were not out like crazy as they were last year. Logan pretty much slept through the whole thing.

Morgan is in the pink princess suit.

On Monday, we all went to Lowry Park Zoo in Tampa. Military members and their families got in for free so we took advantage of that. It was the first visit to a zoo for both kids. The weather was hot, but not very humid so that helped some. Morgan had a lot of fun looking at all the animals and especially asked to see the elephants. When we asked her before we went to the zoo what she was going to see, one thing she kept mentioning was dinosaurs. Guess she is a little unclear on them. :) Again, Logan pretty much slept through the whole thing.

Logan actually awake at the zoo.

Silly faced Morgan.

Morgan loves a merry go round.

Couple of animal shots. I gotta practice more with my different lenses and filters.

Up next, my bad mommy moments and Morgan's first haircut!

Dancing queen

Morgan had her first dance class today. A friend has a dance studio not too far from the house so we went to Disco Dance class. It is not a real formal instructed class. More along the lines of the teacher having them march around to music, play with hoops/instruments, bringing out things to climb on, etc. All the while, there is music playing to get them grooving. Morgan loved jumping around and dancing. At the end, they turned the lights off and turned on the disco lights. She really liked that!

I do not have pictures from the class. Maybe another time. This picture is of her in her first heels so it seemed to fit the theme of this post. :)

Random thoughts on turning 39...

Dang, am I really that old today??!! Okay, so it is not that old, but just the same. So here is what is running thru my head right now other than making sure Morgan does not push any buttons on the computer.

...I can not wait until my son lets me get 5 hours of consecutive sleep.

...how the heck did Garth Brooks run around on stage last night with jean's that tight on. Gotta be some spandex in them.

...where can I buy some of the energy that he had when running around that stage.

...one more year until I turn 40. Now that thought really kind of scares me because what is 40 supposed to feel like?

...and last but not least, happy birthday to me because in the end, it is all good.

Time for my first post...

I started this blog a week or two ago and figure it is about time I at least post a little something. I figure this is a good way to let people know what is going on with me, the kids and just our life in general. That is, let them know when I can actually find time to get something on here. Life is a little crazy in the house with an almost 2 1/2 year old and a 5 week old. Yep, Logan turned 5 weeks old today. Guess that will be it for my first posting. What counts is that I got something up. I promise to work on it more, especially since I will be sending out Logan's birth announcements soon and intend to let everyone know this blog is available for viewing. :)
